October 2024 - Asante Skuli Africa -  Writers' Workshop

Preparation a two day writers' workshop for secondary students that was delivered by the Director of Asante Skuli Africa. Designing the workshop provided an opportunity to train Herman in some relevant high-impact teaching strategies. Through the workshop. participants improved their knowledge of the English language while writing a Swahili-English picture book about their own culture. To enable the participants to learn about the importance of reading, they were encouraged to read their newly created book to five other people.

September 2024 - The program Using the science of reading and school library  to raise student achievement  is made available online

Aimed at high school teachers, this booklet provides evidence based approaches that teachers can incorporate into the inquiry process to increase the amount students read and enable them to successfully engage with complex nonfiction texts. The booklet also highlights the important roles of the library technician and teacher librarian in working with teachers to improve students' academic achievement.

Presentation of evidence-based information literacy tools for teachers to use with their students to better scaffold the inquiry process and build students' content knowledge.

April 2024 - Distribution of the program Phonological awareness: the importance of rhymes and alphabet books 

This peer-reviewed course is written for teachers of under-resourced schools in Tanzania for distribution by PIVA Tanzania. It is part of a package of resources that also includes professional learning videos from other content providers, an English alphabet Pdf 'book created by Susan Stace, a volunteer artist and audio files of copyright-free English nursery rhymes.
